Red Square vodka producer Halewood International has been accused of making a copycat brand following the launch of its RTDs Pretty in Pink and Out of the Blue.

Sunderland-based Alcohol Brands claims the Halewood products are “virtually identical” to its own Baby Pink and Baby Blue. Its brands are distributed by wholesalers including Halewood subsidiary Classic Drinks.

Both ranges are 4% abv, and feature similar pink and blue liquids packaged in clear, 27.5cl bottles.

Alcohol Brands founder Lorraine Griffiths is taking legal advice in an attempt to block the sale of Halewood’s brands.

“The implications for my small company don’t bear thinking about,” Griffiths said.

A Halewood spokesperson said the company was “surprised”, but declined to comment on the details of the case ahead of contact from Griffiths’ lawyers.
