Some £357.9m of fish was landed in Scotland in 1998, representing 57.5 % of the UK total for demersal, pelagic and shellfish species. However, the fall in total catch resulted in price rises and an overall increase in income of £30m. Conversely, with the rise in aquaculture production, salmon in particular, prices fell slightly. Farmed production of fish and shellfish in Scotland amounted to some £290m, while overall processed output comprised £654.2m of white fish, shellfish and salmon, plus £82m of smoked salmon. {{Z SUPPLEMENTS }}
