Despite the less than buoyant state of the world market, the EU's Dairy Management Committee has agreed to limit cheese export subsidies. This follows its policy of containing export quantities and budgetary expenditure within GATT limits. Following the reduction, on May 10, advance fixing of subsidies for cheese and other products were suspended for certain categories. Licences submitted prior to May 15 will be rejected with the exception of applications for cheese submitted on May 10. Products affected are condensed milk, processed cheese, Edam, Gouda and Kefalograviera Kasseri.
