The fourth list of regional product names put forward for registration in Brussels has been published, including a number of cheeses. Retailers and manufacturers need to watch out for how the regulations will be interpreted, however. The Italian government has already started a court action against the Euoropean Commission for allowing the use of the description Parmesan' and two other translations of the protected Italian term Parmigiano Reggiano' on the grounds that the use of the translations are tantamount to the use of the registered term itself.
