US drinks group Constellation Brands has reported record sales due to additional wine sales from its BRL Hardy acquisition in March.

Profit before tax and exceptionals rose 29% to $478m on sales up 21% to $2.1bn for the six months to August 31.

Chief executive Richard Sands added that excluding sales of $140m from the acquisition of Hardy, organic sales growth at Constellation was 11%.

This was driven by increased sales across all categories: imported beer, spirits, wine and wholesale.
