Tesco has warned its staff against the perils of becoming couch potatoes in new advice to help them stay healthy.
An article on the retailer’s website gives advice on how staff can meet the recommended daily target of 10,000 steps per day. It advises office staff to take regular trips to the water cooler, stand whenever they can, or hold “walking meetings”.
More active shopfloor staff are advised to stay fit and healthy through doing the housework, going to the gym or taking up dancing.
“There’s bound to be a style out there for you,” says Tesco, which urges staff to do ‘keep fit’ sessions during TV ad breaks and concludes: “Don’t be tempted to spend all your free time on the sofa.”
