Today’s Group has revamped its core product range guide to offer more in-depth advice to retailers, including how to prepare for the upcoming sugar levy.

The guide now includes key category insights to help retailers better understand and grow their protein, confectionery, crisps, snacks & nuts and soft drink categories in-store.

It has also added features on sugar reduction in confectionery and to help retailers prepare for the soft drinks sugar levy from next month.

The guide has been divided into three separate booklets to give each category a more in-depth focus.

The first centres on the core and extended range for the impulse category, and includes a listing of key products retailers are encouraged to stock to maximise sales and profits. It is already available in selected Today’s Group member depots and online.

The grocery and chill & freeze guide will be issued in the summer, followed by the licensed and tobacco edition in the autumn.

Today’s Group also offers guidance on an extended range for larger stores able to stock more products.

It compiled the guide with information from supplier partners, industry experts and wholesalers as part of a relaunch of the Today’s Group Plan for Profit programme, which provides advice and services to support independent retailers.

Today’s MD Darren Goldney told The Grocer in December that its members were “well placed” to pick up P&H’s independent business and had upped their stock levels after the wholesaler went into administration in November.

Today’s Group has a purchasing power of £5.7bn and operates across retail, on-trade and foodservice sectors. It has more than 143 wholesale members, 490 symbol group retailers and 2,401 retail club members.
