Natural healthcare company Nelsons claims its Spatone apple liqid iron supplement has been the key driver behind double-digit growth in the iron supplement category over the past year.

The business said its C vitamin-infused apple-flavoured variant, which hit shelves in February last year and marked Spatone’s first extension since its launch in 1987, had clocked up £537,000 in sales, helping the overall category grow 13% to £6.5m [SymphonyIRI 52 w/e to 19 May 2012].
