United Biscuits has unveiled the latest innovation in its drive for healthier snacking with improvements to Go ahead!
The Go ahead! range of cereal bars has been revamped with a new recipe for its apple & sultana and hazelnut & pistachio variants, which now include more premium ingredients and 4% greater fruit content. UBUK said the bars
also had lower levels of fat and calories. The hazelnut & pistachio bar contains 117 calories and 3.5g fat while the apple & sultana one has 114 calories and 2.5g fat.
The company announced cuts in salt and fat across key brands including HobNobs and Hula Hoops last month, citing it as a key priority for NPD (The Grocer, May 7, p71).
According to UBUK, better-for-you biscuits are a significant section of the biscuit market, accounting for 22% of the total category at £372.8m and growing 10.2% year-on-year [ACNielsen 52 w/e January 1].
UBUK has also added a new Tropical variant to its Go ahead! Yogurt Breaks range.
