This year's washout summer has provided the perfect opportunity for a heavier rosé from Argentina, says the Argento Wine Company.

The company, created through a joint venture between UK-based Bibendum Wine and Argentinean winery Bodegas Esmeralda, has added a Malbec rosé to its Argento brand.

Drier and heavier in style than most rosés on the UK market, the wine is perfect for the Great British Summer, general manger Amelia Nolan claims.

"It's a fuller, richer style of rosé, which is made from 100% Malbec and is perfect for this wet, English weather," she said.

Argento Malbec rosé, rsp £5.99, has notes of strawberries, cherries and rhubarb and a clean finish.

The rosé category continues to be one of the most dynamic in the wine sector, with companies keen to cash in on growth. Several rosé-over-ice propositions have been launched this year, including E&J Gallo's Rosé on the Rocks.
