The food group, which last month revealed plans to sell its European seafood and frozen and chilled food businesses, said roles across the business that added bureaucracy, duplicated work or which could be relocated would be affected.
A spokeswoman for Heinz said the cuts would take place immediately.
Paul Kaye, Heinz’s vice president of quick serve meals, has become the first senior member to leave the company. As part of the changes, Heinz has also created a Marketing Council which will evaluate all new product ideas, prioritise resources and build a pipeline of innovation for future growth.
One of the members of the new council will be Ben Pearman, who has been promoted to the role of commercial director for beans and pasta meals.
