A new company has been established to help give indies the same news retailing service as the multiple supermarkets.
National Newsagent Network (N3) has been formed under the sponsorship of the NFRN but is an independent company, owned and controlled by its own membership of participating independent retailers and a nine-strong elected board of directors.
Retailers who want to join will have to meet strict entry criteria and must have a minimum five-day direct supplied account from a wholesaler or be an agreed Store2Door contractor. Members will authorise N3 to undertake range and category management. NRFN chief executive Paul Baxter has been appointed chief executive.
N3 director Brian Murphy said the new company was a “natural step on” for retailers from the NFRN’s Newspro Health Check and Newspro+. Its services include bespoke planogramming, EPoS data usage, a helpline, purchasing of new titles and collective negotiation for its members on trading terms and promotional spend.
N3 membership costs £500 plus VAT annually.
