United Coffee is aiming to mark the relaunch of its Lyons brand by raising £70,000 for the Royal British Legion poppy appeal.

In October, the company will be rolling out new-look packaging and three blends for different times of day: Good Morning breakfast coffee, Coffee Break afternoon blend and Gourmet Italian evening coffee. The new coffees will be available as roast and ground for cafetieres and filter machines (rsp: £2.89), beans (rsp: £3.19) and individual foil-wrapped bags for single cups (rsp: £2.59/18 bags).

United will make an initial donation of £20,000 to the 2012 poppy appeal and will then donate three pence from every pack of bags of sold.

“Lyons is an iconic British brand and its name and heritage lend itself well to the proud, patriotic spirit of the charity,” said Russell Thompson, Royal British Legion national events and fundraising director.
