Twinings is expanding its herbal and green tea line-up with two new ranges – including one inspired by tastes in British gardens.
Launching in Sainsbury’s stores on 22 November ahead of a wider rollout, the new Freshly Picked Taste and Steamed Green Tea ranges each comprise three products (all rsp: £2.69/20 envelopes).
The launches come as consumer interest in alternatives to standard black tea continues to grow, with overall value sales of fruit & herbal teas up 5.2% and green tea up 15.5%, while black tea sales have dropped 1% [Kantar Worldpanel 52 w/e 19 July 2015].
Freshly Picked Taste are herbal teas inspired by tastes found in “gardens and green areas,” said Twinings. The line-up comprises Meadow Camomile & Fennel; Root Ginger; and Garden Mint, with each bag foil-wrapped to boost freshness.
The Steamed Green Tea range is made by steaming freshly picked green tea leaves, said Twinings. This gave a more delicate taste than a standard green tea, making the blends ideal for consumers who found the taste of green tea overpowering. The blends are: Simply Pure; Velvet Jasmine; and Smooth Lemon.
