Penfolds is relabelling its Thomas Hyland wines to an Adelaide appellation to distinguish their regional roots.

The three wines had been labelled simply as South Australian, but now they will showcase their Adelaide heritage - the only wines that will be able to do so, claimed the Foster's-owned winery.

"With Penfolds Magill Estate at its epicentre and the Nuriootpa Winery crushing Adelaide fruit for almost a century, the time is right," said chief winemaker Peter Gago.

Penfolds is also introducing a Sauvignon Blanc (rsp £9.99) to the range for the UK market to add to its Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz wines.
