Smoothies are jumping from the chillers to the freezers with the launch of an iced variant under the Del Monte brand.
Del Monte Smoothies are produced by Fredericks Dairies, which aims to take a chunk of the premium ice cream market. They join the brand’s fruit ice portfolio, which includes Orange Fruit Ice, Pineapple Fruit Ice and Strawberry Fruit Double, also produced
by Fredericks Dairies.
Two smoothie varieties are being produced - mango and raspberry - which boast their healthy credentials through an on-pack flash declaring that each contains fewer than 100 calories. Each variant comes in a three-pack (rsp: £1.99).
Fredericks Dairies MD Frank Frederick said it was continually looking for new and innovative ways to satisfy consumer demand for products that were both healthier and delicious.
“We are proud of the portfolio and the new additions demonstrate our ongoing commitment to growing the category through high quality innovation that meets consumer needs,” he said.
