Imperial Leather maker PZ Cussons has reported increases in UK sales and profits despite heavy promotional activity on its products and rising production costs.

The personal care giant said in its latest trading statement that “significant new product launches over the coming months [would] provide the platform for further continued growth”.

The group also cited strong performances in Australia, Indonesia and the Middle East over the period from 27 January to 14 April.

“The trading outlook for the full year remains positive and in line with expectations despite challenging trading conditions in some territories and input costs now rising again,” it said.

“Strong cash flow is expected to continue for the remainder of the year.”

PZ Cussons will issue a further update on 10 June regarding its full-year results.
