Sainsbury's is working with apple growers in Kent on a pilot project that will triple the fruit yield available from a given area of land by increasing the number of trees to more than 3,000 per hectare.
Gem tests positive
The latest pesticide residue findings (for the first quarter in 2006) from the PRC found gem lettuce from Spain tested positive for excess residues on four occasions, as well as US grapes and passion fruit from Colombia and South Africa.
