Danish dairy co-op Arla amba has been given clearance to buy out the 49% shareholders in its Arla Foods UK subsidiary for 71p per share. Trading in Arla shares was cancelled on 5 April.
Cheese issue debate
Dairy UK is hosting a cheese summit on 1 May to debate some of the major issues facing cheese makers, including Ofcom's ban on advertising cheese and the global growth in cheese consumption.
Price rise expected
Robert Wiseman Dairies became the first of the supermarket milk processors to raise the price it pays farmers for milk, in response to the retail price rise on liquid milk seen last month. The rise will be back-dated to March.
