John Lewis non-execs

The John Lewis Partnership has appointed David Barclay and Jane Tozer as non-executive directors. Tozer has experience of the IT industry, including as chief executive of software company Softwright, while Barclay has experience of the banking sector, including as vice chairman of Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein. They take up their roles on 21 August.

Heading north

Discovery Wines has appointed Paul Shackleton as sales manager for northern England. He joins the company following seven years with Vinoceros. In his new role, he will be responsible for sales into the independent and regional wholesale sectors.

New Heinz directors

Heinz has said that it is close to appointing two new directors.

Presiding director Thomas Usher said: "Following discussions with major shareholders, we have had very positive discussions regarding a number of key leaders who have global consumer products and capital markets expertise, and we expect to be in a position to elect two new directors shortly after the 16 August shareholder meeting.

"These individuals are expected to bring deep knowledge and experience as well as strong track records of exceptional business performance."

Drinks venture

Ari Mervis, managing director of SABMiller's Russian operations, has been chosen to head its new joint venture, Pacific Beverages, in Australia. As part of the venture with bottler Coca-Cola Amatil, which is expected to be operational by Christmas, SABMiller will be selling Peroni Nastro Azzurro, Pilsner Urquell and Miller Genuine Draft alongside Coca-Cola Amatil's non-alcoholic beverage portfolio.
