Meat producer margins have radically fallen as a result of soaring input cost increases, the Northern Ireland Red Meat Task Force has claimed. Feed and silage costs had risen 50% and fuel and fertiliser costs had doubled, it reported.
Scots quota talks
A consultation over the management of the Scottish fish quota has been launched. The proposals would give the Scottish government greater control of fish quotas and ensure fishermen got fair access to them.
Quality Meat Scotland is to ask beef producers to fill out an intentions survey to ascertain the likely size and scale of the industry in coming years.
