Potato plantings up

British potato growers have planted 130,758 hectares with spuds this year - 2.8% more than previous estimates by the British Potato Council. However, losses from flooding will reduce the yield.

Grapefruit demand

Supplies of AgroFair's newly launched Fairtrade grapefruit have been extended to 500 Co-op stores because the product has been so well received by consumers. The fruit comes from South Africa.

Spuds go to Asda

Potato supplier Fenmarc is delivering main crop spuds direct from the farm to Asda stores in Falmouth, St Austell and Bodmin. The potatoes are all grown by a Truro-based farmer and are sold loose from boxes with Cornish branding.
