Salvesen fined 

Christian Salvesen has been fined £17,000 and told to pay £5,000 costs after it admitted polluting a two-mile stretch of waterway at its pea-processing site in Lincolnshire with dirty water and peas. 

Citrus crop slump 

The Valencian citrus crop is forecast to come in 25% below last year's crop with satsumas badly hit and facing a 47% drop. Overall volumes will be down by one million tonnes to 3.2 million tonnes. 

Cooking apples down 

England's Bramley apple crop is expected to fall well short of forecasts, according to English Apples & Pears. Growers had expected a total crop of 51,000 tonnes but picking data shows the actual figure may be 5%-10% lower.
