Swedish and Danish beef and lamb buyers have visited Northern Ireland this week as part of Livestock and Meat Commission plans to develop new business opportunities for Northern Irish red meat companies overseas. 

Abbattoir loss fears 

The Food Standards Agency has introduced increased charges for official checks in meat businesses this week in a move that critics say will put the livelihoods of many smaller abbattoirs in jeopardy. 

Fuel blow for Scots 

Urgent measures are now needed to help alleviate the crippling price of fuel, with many fishermen struggling to remain viable, the Scottish Fishermen's Association warned this week.
