Higher Bristol Bay run forecast

After last year's catch of 30 million red salmon, Bristol Bay packers are gearing up for a forecast 33 million by putting in extra lines. Importers need today's dollar exchange rate to hold and for producers to absorb much of the tin plate and fuel costs increases for prices to be similar to last season. A source in Seattle said: "With food markets around the world in turmoil, we hope to keep prices reasonably stable and promote heavily." Predictions for the pink pack remain low, with more of the catch going to the frozen export market to be made into fish burgers.
