Jersey Dairy hopes deals with Harrods and Harvey Nichols will lead to greater things.
Kevin Keen, Jersey Dairy chief executive, said listings for the company’s yoghurt, although in small volumes, would make it easier to get a foot in the door at the larger food retailers.
“These deals give us a bit of experience before we start to look around for something bigger. We would love to do business with retailers such as Waitrose and Whole Foods Market - where the provenance of food is everything.”
The listings, which began last year, represent the first time Jersey has exported its dairy products in a branded format.The price of our basket of dairy items is now 13.3% cheaper than it was this time last year, having fallen 6.4% over the past ten weeks.
