The future of British Seafood subsidiary Five Star Fish has been secured after it was bought by The Boparan Group.

Ranjit Singh Boparan, whose portfolio already includes chicken processor 2 Sisters Food Group and the Harry Ramsden fish and chip chain, has purchased both the business and assets of Five Star, which include its plant at Great Grimsby Business Park. The sale safeguards the jobs of 332 employees.

"Five Star Fish is a strong, profitable business and the sale is sure to be welcomed by its stakeholders," said Matt Smith, joint administrator at Deloitte.
