Nestlé overtakes Cadbury to become the top brand as the number of confectionery products on shelf increases in the run-up to Christmas. Mars maintains the number three position, yet again increasing its share of promotional space. However, confectionery has been overtaken by alcoholic drinks as the leading category as brands begin to release festive drink promotions. This is reflected by Boddingtons and Grolsch breaking into the top 10 brands. They are joined by another four new entrants, indicating the competitiveness for promotional space in the festive build-up. Among the fascia, Sainsbury and Asda have reversed roles.
