Kellogg’s boss Dave Mackay is to retire at the end of the year.

He will be succeeded as chief executive of the US cereal giant by the company’s chief operating officer, John Bryant.

Mackay became chief executive in 2006, having been president since 2003.

“There is a lot more to the company than who the CEO is," Bryant, who joined the company in 1998, told Associated Press.

“We have a great team, we know what we want to do and we'll focus on getting it done."
