Ireland’s Kerry Group - owner of Cheestrings and the Wall’s sausage brand - says it is still on the acquisitions trail.
The company recently bought a Brains Faggots plant and two Hibernia factories making frozen ready meals and chilled desserts. But Frank Hayes, its corporate affairs director, said: “We are looking at bolt-on acquisitions in consumer foods or ingredients.”
A new distribution centre in Swindon to support the rapid growth of Kerry Foods Direct to Store was in the planning stages, Hayes added.
His comments came as the group revealed pre-tax profit shot up 41% to E224m in 2003. Group turnover was flat at E3.7bn because of the growing strength of the euro against the dollar and sterling.
