Putting on the rouge Ten French kiwifruit producer groups in the south west of France are to test the effect of exporting fruit under the Label Rouge quality symbol this winter. Already sold nationally as a premium priced product, the fruit is grown with a minimum of crop treatments and has a higher maturity rating before harvesting. The region, which produces around a quarter of the crop estimated to total 80,000 tonnes, is planning to send limited volumes to the United Kingdom. {{FRESH PRODUCE }}
