Kmart has applied for emergency funds to keep its stores stocked with booze after several suppliers refused to deliver liquor without assurances they would get paid on time. Other major suppliers, including Sara Lee, Pepsi bottlers and Frito-Lay, have asked the bankruptcy court to clarify when their debts will be settled. A joint filing by Pepsi and Frito-Lay claimed the payment timetable proposed by Kmart was a "camouflage for what amounts to a 15-month, interest-free unsecured loan". Sara Lee said Kmart owed it $40m by January 22, the day it filed for bankruptcy. {{NEWS }}
