The Threshers, Wine Rack, and Haddows brands are all expected to survive after First Quench Retailing is wound up.

Richard Fleming, head of UK restructuring at the administrator, KPMG, said he was confident he would be able to sell all the fascias belonging to the off-licence group, along with at least half of its 1,200 stores.

Fleming said he anticipated a large number of bids by the 13 November deadline.

Costcutter, Bargain Booze and private equity investors are among the parties thought to be interested in the stores.
