National Trust Welsh lamb is set to go on sale in Sainsbury stores under a scheme which the retailer claims is the first of its kind.

The lamb is sourced from a group of National Trust tenant farmers on the Dolaucothi Estate in the Cothi Valley.

The farmers all follow methods which respect the environment, protect historic features and enhance the wildlife habitat.

Emma Metcalf-King, Sainsbury meat counter buyer, said: “I am delighted to be launching this unique initiative to offer our customers the opportunity to have the highest quality Welsh lamb and support this group of small family farms.”
