Landmark Wholesale has announced plans to further develop its Vintners Collection wines with the introduction of additional varietals, updated packaging and a screw-cap format.

The buying group is adding a further 10 wines to its three-year-old Vintners Collection, which won The Grocer Gold Award for Best Own Label range in 2005.

When Landmark launched the collection of high-quality wines from around the world, it promised they would offer generous profit margins for retailers and value for money for consumers.

The latest additions - which will include blends from Australia, Italy, South Africa and California - have been created to capitalise on the success of existing variants in the range.

Its 2.3% annual growth in sales to May 2007 was driven by Australian and Californian wines in particular, according to Landmark.

"We closely follow the market trends to offer quality products that capture what the customer is looking for," said marketing director Chris Rose. "Introducing the new wines at this time allows our customers the opportunity to further develop their offerings ahead of the busy Christmas period."

The 10 additions will bring the total number of wines in the collection up to 51.

The company also plans to introduce the screw-cap format and new packaging to the New World wines to improve shelf standout.
