Cornershop Online, the e-commerce site that soft launched last month, will officially go live on Monday, giving indie c-stores a platform to offer home delivery and click & collect.

The site, masterminded and funded by retailer Purdeep Haire, has been developed to help indies capitalise on the growth of online and stand out from the multiples.

It will launch with 10 retailers, including stores run by prominent Premier and Londis retailers Jai Singh and Bintesh Amin. Haire is targeting 100 stores by the end of the year.

“The possibilities for the site are endless,” said Haire. “The two biggest growth areas are convenience and online - this product lets retailers invest in both.”

Cornershop Online works by providing retailers with a web page with links to products and deals. Local customers can then order goods for home delivery or reserve items for click & collect.

Jai Singh, who operates a Premier store in Sheffield, already offers home delivery but expects to double deliveries to 20 a week through the site. “The concept is the same as Just Eat,” he said. “It’s a good idea.”
