A new app being trialled at Nisa stores run by North East Convenience Stores is driving footfall and encouraging shoppers to buy into exclusive ‘app-only’ deals.
The app, which is the brainchild of NECS director Sanjeev Vadhera, is being trialled in 13 stores and has been downloaded 1,800 times and viewed 49,000 times since its launch in October.
It offers a range of ‘app-only deals’ on key lines such as alcohol and confectionery and is being promoted with a specially designed character - ‘App man’ - who encourages shoppers to download and compare in-store and on-app prices before purchasing in store.
“This app is purely for retailers in my symbol group to direct targeted comms to specific areas and demographics - and to me, that’s quite powerful”, said Vadhera.
The app was a good opportunity for retailers to shift short-dated stock and end of promotion goods at a higher margin than they would in store, Vadhera added.
The app is being trialled in NECS stores until January, with the potential to be rolled out to Nisa retailers in the future.
