Sales and profits have increased at Scottish C&C operator United Wholesale Grocers.

It reported a 1.6% increase in pre-tax profits to £1.29m on sales up 5% to £131m in the year to 31 December 2012, according to accounts at Companies House. The number of retailers operating under its Smart Shop symbol rose 11% versus 2011.
