Sir, It’s all very well complaining about Kraft’s plans for Cadbury after the horse has bolted (Leader, 6 August).
The simple fact is that Todd Stitzer and the board of directors should have been far more vociferous about keeping Cadbury independent, or indeed joint-venturing with another company. The UK government is already losing tax revenue as Cadbury’s HQ is now in Switzerland (a timely reminder to all companies involved in all aspects of retail).

We can now only look forward and work to ensure that this must never happen again lessons have to be learned.
