Sir: I was intrigued to read your article ‘Get ready for catfish and chips says KPMG’ (3 August). For a while now, it has been fashionable to predict the demise of cod, yet nothing could be further from the truth.

Cod fisheries in Norway, Iceland, the Baltic Sea and Russia are MSC-certified as sustainable and well managed fisheries. Many of their products in supermarkets - as well as a growing number of fish and chip shops - use the MSC ecolabel, allowing shoppers and diners to recognise and reward these sustainable fisheries. By choosing products with the MSC label, shoppers and diners can help to be part of a global transformation taking place in sustainable fisheries.

Cod hasn’t had its chips. Certified as sustainable, cod is here to stay.
