Sir: I am reported pointing out that all parts of the industry need to change their current approach to voluntary front-of-pack nutrition labelling (‘Suppliers to rubberstamp a universal labelling scheme’, 13 October). This is self-evident: none of the current schemes are fully compliant with the new Food Information Regulation. But it is hard to see how such a simple statement of fact justifies the headline.
As the article reports, many of our members are operating in a global context and the complexities of making changes applying in one jurisdiction only should not be underestimated.
That is why we must ensure consumer behaviour is put at the heart of the debate.
