Sir: The DHL city quiet concept delivery truck would be ideal for night-time deliveries. We hope it will be in production very soon. DHL is a forward-thinking haulier: it has even trained its delivery staff to communicate in sign language where necessary, so as not to disturb residents. Residents living near c-stores are vulnerable to delivery noise including reversing alarms, metal roll cages and staff shouting.
The whole retail industry needs to make investment in quiet equipment, vehicles and staff training programmes where noise problems exist.
