Sir, I read your feature on Tower Hamlets with some pleasure.
I have long argued that, although the Olympics will bring some fantastic benefits to Tower Hamlets and the UK, it will also create contextual challenges that haven’t been encountered before and to which we in government must rise.
Tower Hamlets Council has worked with the FSA on a host of operational and training processes for the Olympics.
Our hard work is beginning to pay off. We have secured 1,700 Olympic jobs for local residents we have almost completed a £20m regeneration programme - and we celebrated the launch of Brick Lane’s Curry Capital 2012 status with eatery festivities ahead of the torch’s arrival.
