Last week, The Grocer reported details of the new government scheme designed to “cut five billion calories a day from the nation’s diet”.
Am I the only one who feels perturbed at having my diet moralised and interfered with by politicians - most of whom I would suggest could do with losing a pound themselves (‘health’ secretary Andrew Lansley included)? It is rather like Sarah Palin proclaiming she favours gun control in between rounds of elk hunting.
If those in power believe that cohesion and regulation is the answer to society’s ills, how about they start with the Westminster canteen? Surely the saving to the taxpayer of only having to buy one seat for Eric Pickles when he travels would be justification enough.
