Sir: Your story on fraud in the takeaway sector (‘Dodgy takeaways prompt Which? calls for action on food fraud,’ thegrocer.co.uk, 17 April), failed to recognise that an aligned supply chain is key to this debate.
As it stands, third-party testing is only one component of the compliance process. Full transparency of who is in your supply chain, where your product is coming from and evidence of due diligence are just some areas that need to be managed every day in order to mitigate risk. There’s now a real understanding that any internal compliance process needs to go back to source, so you’re not just measuring the performance of your suppliers, but also your suppliers’ suppliers.
With supply chain technology now able to offer complete transparency, businesses will be able to pinpoint any problem areas and act without delay.
