Milk Link has completed its deal to take control of Glanbia Foods.

The farmer owned co-operative has taken a 75% controlling stake in The Cheese Company, making it the UK’s second largest cheese producer.

The completion of the deal follows approval both from the Milk Link Member Council and
also the Irish competition authorities.

The Cheese Company was created through the sale of Glanbia Foods to a new company, Cheese Company Holdings.

Barry Nicholls, chief executive of Milk Link (above), said: “The completion of the deal is great news for our dairy farmers.”
