Brintex, organisers of the London International Wine & Spirit Fair, will next year divide the show into two separate halves.
The London International Wine Fair, as it will be called, will occupy its existing space at ExCel.
A new show dedicated to spirits called Distil, will occupy the opposite hall over the same three-day period.
The new event is billed as the first trade event in the world dedicated to spirits.
Visitor figures suggest that 45% of visitors to the current LIWSF have responsibility for spirits and it is hoped the event will attract buyers from the on and off-trade and the duty free market. "Our aim is to become for the spirits trade what LIWSF has become for the wine trade," said Will Broadfood, marketing director, Brintex.
"It is aimed at CEOs and senior buyers as a place for them to meet with suppliers and importers from across the globe."
The two shows will take place between 20 and 22 May 2008.
