Thejuicecompany claims its new production techniques could help to solve the smoothie market’s wastage problem.
It is bringing out a four-strong, 100% fresh fruit Smoothiesmile range with a four-month chilled shelf life,
achieved through aseptic technology and without preservatives or additives.
The range, which sits under the Big J brand umbrella, comes in 330ml PET bottles and retails at around £1.59 each.
MD Josephine Carpenter said research showed smoothies’ current short shelf-life cost retailers thousands of pounds in wastage and made distribution to independents difficult.
She added that the company’s aim was to transform the market from being a niche, expensive treat based in the south-east of England into an everyday healthy drink.
