A new 'eco-friendly' free-range egg has been launched by Noble Foods.

Eggs in the Ecowise range, which is available from The Co-operative from this month, are produced using lower-carbon methods on Eco farms that use renewable energy. The farms also feature extra foliage and trees to cut carbon and provide the hens with a more natural environment.

The British Lion-accredited eggs will be sold in recyclable, compostable packaging and Noble has pledged to remove labels in the long term. It hopes Ecowise will appeal to shoppers looking for eggs produced to high animal welfare and environmental standards.
