A survey "commissioned by Loyd Grossman" has found that only 25% of Brits think British food is the finest in the world.

This compares, somewhat unfavourably, with the Italians (94%) and the Spanish (79%). In fact, even the Germans - at 31% - are prouder of their cuisine than we are.

Could this lack of national food pride be a direct result of our predilection for cooking from a jar?

Perhaps we should ask Loyd Grossman.
